JING AN BUDDHIST TEMPLE OF FLUSHING BUILDING

MAY THE DEAD REST IN PEACE AND THE LIVING CAN REST ASSURED

Water is destined, trees have roots, and filial piety comes first. Accumulate good destiny, and get blessings from living a sincere life. One Buddhist proverb is that all settlements in towns settle on the ground, and all herbs, plants, trees and jungles also grow on the ground. The traditional virtues of the Chinese are: respect the elderly and love children, rebirth orginates from fallen leaves and reincarnation of life and death is common in the world. Let ancestors rest in peace, and the living can rest assured that benevolence and filial piety are the core of peace and homeland.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE CAUSE OF PAST LIVES, THE RECIPIENT IN THIS LIFE IS THE CAUSE
IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE RESULT IN THE NEXT LIFE, LOOK TOWARD THE AUTHOR OF THIS LIFE

The Third World Karma Sutra is designed to transform Buddhism in the name of advising people to do good. The three lifetimes are the past, present, and future. All things or phenomena in the world are a chain of cause and effect in the flow of time in the past, present, and future. The past is the cause, the present is the effect; the present is the cause, the future is the effect, and this is called the Three Worlds of Cause and Effect. According to Buddhist theory, the lives of sentient beings flow in and out of the realm of Buddhism, and the karma of the past is the cause of their present effects, and the karma of the present is the cause of their future effects.

Explanation of Buddhist Terminology :

The Buddha's "Three Worlds Karma Sutra" points out not only that one's destiny is one's own making, but also how to be a useful member of society, the law of karmic retribution, and the truth that one can change one's fortune if one renounces evil and does good deeds. The first four sentences of the Karma Sutra are the general outline of the karmic cycle of retribution.

Life is a thing of the present,
Not a thing of the end of life

What does it mean to be reborn?

The Immeasurable Life Sutra, the Kama Sutra, the Amitabha Sutra, etc.: To be reborn in the blissful world of Amitabha in the West. This is the ultimate blissful rebirth, also known as the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

The Pure Land of Eternal Bliss means that after death one will go to the Western Elysium and will not suffer from reincarnation.

To be born in the Pure Land means to leave the Saha world and go to the Western Elysium to be born in the lotus. The world of the Saha world to Maitreya Rama's Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is said to go born in the lotus flower of the land, and is said to be born.

Therefore, in many places in the classics, the Buddha asks us to "give up this and go to the other." "Give up this" means to give up the current house of fire, the sea of suffering. "He" is the other country, the Pure Land of Bliss, the Pure Land of Maitreya. The word "birth" means to be born in a lotus flower, which means to be freed from the cycle of birth and death, to transcend mortality and enter sainthood, and to become a Buddha.

There are many kinds of "Pure Land" mentioned in the classics, including Maitreya Pure Land, Maitreya Pure Land, Eastern Pure Land, Spiritual Mountain Pure Land, Pure Land of Fragrance, etc. But now the word "Pure Land" is only used by the Nembutsu discipline that aspires to be born in the Pure Land of Maitreya.

How to worship the ancestor's spirit

Respecting ancestors is a fine tradition and virtue of the Chinese people. Since ancient times, from the emperor to the nobleman, down to the common people, there has been a special place in the residence to set up ancestral tablets for worship.

From feng shui, the placement of ancestral tablets should be combined with the altar together. For example, if the altar is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, the position where Guanyin sits is divided into left and right. The left side is the high side and the right side is the low side, so generally the ancestors should be placed on the right side of the altar. Looking from the direction of the practitioner, it is standard to place the ancestors on the left side.

Is it necessary to have an ancestral place in the home? Actually, it may not be necessary.

If you live in a house that is not too big and there is no space for the altar, and if the whole family is afraid of fire, there is no need to place the ancestor's place. You can send your ancestors to a Buddhist temple, where the ancestors will be chanted and worshipped every day, so that the ancestors can reach ultimate happiness. For example, the Jing'an Temple in New York is located in Flushing, Queens, which is easily accessible, so you can visit the temple every week after school and after work. As descendants, it is enough for them to visit their ancestors in the Buddhist temple every year, so there is no need to make offerings at home.

ABOUT THE ANCESTRAL TABLETS

Ancestral tablets are commonly known as God Lord tablets. According to legend, ancestral tablets originated in the Eastern Han Dynasty. It has been a custom for the Chinese to set up ancestral halls and worship ancestors in their homes to promote the traditional virtues of honoring ancestors and thanking parents.
After the inscription is completed, the ancestral tablets are selected for the ceremony of worship. Ancestors from all previous dynasties are called to the shrine, and then a seating ceremony is performed.
